Dhaulagiri I ( 8167 meters)

The Dhaulagiri peak is situated in Nepal, about 120 km from the Kaligandaki River. It gets its name from the Sanskrit word “dhawala”, which means white, dazzling, beautiful, and the word “giri” meaning mountain. The tributaries of the Bheri River cover the peak from the north and southwest. On the southeast is the Myagdi Khola. The seventh highest mountain in the world, Dhaulagiri rises at a height of 8167 meters above sea level. A Swiss/Austrian/Nepali expedition was the first to climb this peak on May 13, 1960. It is also known as the highest peak in the Gandaki River basin.

Cho Oyu (8188 meters)

Located on the Tibet-Nepal border, Cho Oyu is the sixth highest mountain peak on Earth. It rises at a height of 8188 meters above sea level. It is the westernmost major peak located in the Khumbu section of the mighty Mahalangur Himalaya. The peak is situated at a distance of 20 km from Mount Everest. The mountain was first climbed on 19 October, 1954, by an Austrian expedition comprising of Joseph Jochler, Herbert Tichy, and Sherpa Pasang Dawa Lama. Cho Oyu is well known as the easiest 8000 meter peak to climb. It is very popular among professional guided parties.

Makalu (8463 meters)

Makalu is the fifth highest mountain in the world, reaching a height of 8463 meters above sea level. This peak is also located in the Mahalangur ranges of the Himalayas, and lies in the border of Nepal and china. It is an isolated peak with the shape of a four sided pyramid. Lionel Terray and Jean Couzy in 1955 where the first people to climb this peak. It is one of the most difficult peaks to climb among the peaks towering more than 8000 meters. The Makalu Barun valley of this peak, lying in Nepal is a unique landscape that is home to some of the last pristine mountain ecosystems in the world.

Lhotse (8516 meters)

Mount Lhotse is the fourth highest peak in the world after Mount Everest, K2, and Kangchenjunga. This mountain peak has a height of 8516 meters above sea level. It is located at the border between Tibet and Khumbu region of Nepal.

Lhotse means the south peak in Tibetan and this mountain is connected to the Everest via the South Col. In addition to the main summit which reaches 8516 meters, there are also two other peaks in this mountain; Lhotse middle (8414 meters) and Lhotse Shar (8383 meters). This mountain is also part of the Mahalangur ranges of the Himalayas which also consist of the Mount Everest. The first people to reach the summit of Lhotse are Ernst Reiss and Fritz Luchsinger in 1956.

Kangchenjunga (8586 meters)

Kangchenjunga is another mountain in the Himalayas and is the third largest mountain peak in the world. This mountain peak has an official height of 8586 meters and is located in the border of eastern Nepal and Sikkim in India. The first people to climb this peak were Joe brown and George band in the year 1955. The main peak of Kangchenjunga is the second highest point in Nepal, after Mount Everest, and is the highest mountain in India. Kangchenjunga was considered to be the tallest mountain in the world until 1852.

The peak lies in the Kangchenjunga Himal section of the Himalayas which lies in both Nepal and India. This region encompasses 16 peaks which are above 7000 meters.

Mount K2 (8611 meters)

Mount K2 is the second tallest mountain peak in the world, reaching a height of 8611 meters above sea level. This mountain peak is located in the border between Pakistan and china in the Gilgit- Baltistan region. Mount K2 is the highest point in the Karakoram Range and is also the highest point in Pakistan. Mount K2 is also known as Mount Godwin Austen, in honour of Henry Godwin Austen who was an early explorer in this area.

Mount K2 lies in the north-western Karakorum Range. The mountain is bordered by the Tarim sedimentary Basin to its north and the lesser Himalayas to its south. There are many glaciers on the south and east of K2. The melt waters from these vast glaciers feed the agriculture in the valleys and also contribute significantly to the regional fresh water supply. The mountain is also known as the savage mountain because of its extreme difficulty to ascent. Also this mountain peak has the second highest fatality rate amount the peaks that crosses the 8000 meters height.

Mount Everest (8848 meters)

Mount Everest is the tallest mountain peak in the world. It has a height of 8848 meters above sea level as of now. It is located in the borders of Nepal and china with the international border running across the precise summit point. The mountain is also known as Sagarmatha in Nepal. This highest mountain in the world is part of the Mahalangur section of the Himalayas which is also home to many other tall mountains of the world.

The mountain was officially recognised as the highest mountain in 1856 by Andrew Waugh. During that time, the peak was known as peak XV. The name Mount Everest was also given by Waugh. He named it after the welsh surveyor George Everest who was his predecessor as the surveyor general of India.

There have been so people who have tried to climb the peak of Mount Everest. The first official ascent of Mount Everest was done by Tenzing Norgay and Edmund Hillary. They made this achievement in 1953 using the south East Ridge route.
